Future-party standing extends the circle of legitimate parties in NWG jurisprudence to those who bear consequences but cannot appear: future generations, children not yet born, future users of infrastructure. It does not pretend imaginary persons literally appear in court; instead certain institutions receive stewardship jurisdiction to represent future ecological viability, long-term resource availability, irreversible environmental effects, infrastructure debt, and lost future option space.
The purpose is structural: it prevents present participants from consuming all future ecology simply because the future cannot object in the present. It is the temporal extension of affected-party standing — consequence creates standing even across time — and it is closely tied to renewability and the ecological continuity the model treats as a first-class obligation. Like all representation in the model, it is fiduciary: the steward acts to preserve the represented standing, never to absorb it.
