The concentration-to-propagation ratio is a diagnostic that tells apart two things reach alone cannot distinguish. When a project, person, or platform gains enormous attention, the question is where the benefit lands:
Does it remain inside the original node — financially, socially, technically — or does it create capacity elsewhere?
A high concentration reading means the system is amplifying a center: attention and gains flow back to one node while the surrounding field stays as capable (or as dependent) as before. A high propagation reading means the system is enriching the network: the attention converts into new capability distributed across many participants. It is the network-level companion to propagation depth — depth asks how many generations of new capability were created, this ratio asks whether the value concentrated or spread — and together they reveal whether a network is doing the work the connection function exists for, or quietly rebuilding the concentration it exists to prevent.
