Commitment infrastructure is the other half of navigation, and the corrective to a common misreading of navigability. Bearing is not only the freedom to redirect; navigation eventually requires choosing a direction long enough for consequence to accumulate.
A system built entirely around optionality could produce chronic abandonment.
So while course-correction rights protect the freedom to turn, commitment infrastructure protects the capacity to stay — cohorts, mentors, milestones, communities of practice, access to tools, long-term project structures, and accountability relationships. No participant is forced to continue; the point is subtler. Its quiet function is to help a person distinguish temporary difficulty — which is part of any real direction — from a genuine need to redirect, the discernment on which mature bearing depends. Without it, difficulty is too easily mistaken for misalignment, and every hard passage becomes an exit.
